What better way...
to celebrate Earth Day than by turning it into an everyday habit?
On 29 May 2025, the University of Malaya’s Department of Geography transformed Dataran Sastera into a vibrant hub of eco-action for Earth Day 2025, themed “Earth Day, Everyday.”

The event buzzed with energy, from colorful booths and creative merchandise to passionate discussions on protecting our planet. Students, local communities, and even guests from Universitas Negeri Medan, Indonesia came together, proving that sustainability truly connects across borders.
Among the highlights was YELL’s interactive booth, where visitors explored youth-led environmental projects and opportunities like Conservocation and Exploraction. The crowd favorite? Learning about YELL-funded projects such as the adorable Ardee - the purple heron - from the “I Love Wetlands” project by Persatuan Tadika Sabah, who stole the show (and plenty of selfies!) while spreading the message of wetland conservation.

Interestingly, more female students stopped to chat and learn about YELL’s programs, showing strong enthusiasm for grassroots environmental work. While YELL’s non-commercial booth stood out amid the buzz of eco-merch sales, it sparked valuable conversations about real, on-the-ground change.
The key takeaway?
Small actions, creative ideas, and genuine conversations can make a big difference. Earth Day isn’t just a date on the calendar; it’s a mindset we can all live by, every day.
