Conserving the natural landscape

By: Jennifer Janani A/P Sathiaseelan

I have grown up looking at those trees. Every monsoon season, large and broad leaves will end up on my doorstep. Every evening, when the sun is about to set, flocks of birds would go back to their home in the trees.

But now, all of that is impossible. All these trees were chopped off to make way for construction. I do not wish to see this again in the future because it is damaging to nature. Without the trees, the ambient temperature has become hotter.

We must start sustainable urban development. We need to include trees and rivers in the development plan. Sustainable urban city or development is just not about placing random trees and shrubs; it is about conserving the natural landscape, culture and retaining local plants and trees while developing.
