marikitaYELL EP 1: Plastic Endgame

The global plastics treaty is a proposed legally binding international agreement being negotiated by the UN to address the entire lifecycle of plastic pollution. Between 5-15 August 2025, the final round of negotiations (INC-5.2) in Geneva concluded without reaching consensus on a final text.

Malaysia plays an important role in this landmark agreement. How does the treaty shape our approach to tackling plastic pollution? What does this mean for us, and why should young people care?

In this episode, we sit down with two leading voices:
  • Ms Wong Si Peng, Events & Project Officer, Center to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4 Center)
  • Ms Mageswari Sangaralingam, Chief Executive of the Consumers Association of Penang; Hon. Secretary of the Sahabat Alam Malaysia

Through this discussion, we hope to inspire Malaysian youths to step up, ask bold questions, and take ownership in tackling our plastics crisis — uncovering the gaps, seizing new opportunities, and shaping the future of plastics policy together.
