While Malaysia has made notable progress in integrating EE into the education system, many educators still face challenges, from limited resources and training to uncertainty about how to incorporate practical sustainability lessons into their classrooms.

One inspiring example is Worming Up’s Seeds of Change initiative, a hands-on environmental education programme that brings composting and soil health learning directly into schools. Through vermicomposting systems, structured learning modules, and guided teacher support, the initiative empowers students to understand food waste, circular systems, and the importance of healthy soil in sustaining life.
